Quezon, the former president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines who founded the city and developed it to replace Manila as the country's capital. rom 1948 until 1976 Quezon city the capital of the Philippines. The name of the City should not be confused with the province Quezon because its not related and also not located inside in this province. The commercial center of the city is in Cubao where many shopping malls and the Aurora Tower can be found. There is a farmers plaza and farmers market. There are several touristic attractions and places of interest like the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Nature Center, an experience of nature within the city. Located near the Quezon Memorial City and houses a zoological and botanical garden, complete with a man-made lagoon for boating activities. Nature tripping can be done there is a rock garden, grove, lagoon, fishing village, craft village, mini-zoo and some more. Another interesting place is the Quezon Memorial Circle, its a shrine and park and has a peak of 66 meters. Quezon city is also famous of the University of the Philippines Diliman which is established in June 1908. The Araneta Coliseum is located in Cubao, part of Quezon city, and is a multi-purpose sports building, here are yearly many sport events. The popular tourist belt in quezon city is Tomas Morato and Timog Avenue with numerous bars and restaurants, discotheques, karaoke joints and comedy bars with all-night long recreation.
