Rizal MonumentMetro Manila lies in the middle of Luzon bordered by the province of Bulacan on the North, Rizal and the Laguna Bay on the east, Laguna and Cavite in the south and Manila Bay in the west and has 16 Cities: Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, Pasig, Parañaque, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig and Valenzuela. It has more than 15 million inhabitants. Metro manila is known as the high polution, smog, chaotic traffic and the heat. As the city of Manila grew and other cities in the surrounding region got bigger, all these places (7 cities and 9 towns) grew together to the huge metropolitan area of today called Metro Manila. Manila is the capital of the Philippines, one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Country's China town is located here. Intramuros contains some of the city's most interesting museums, ruins, and churches including the Manila Cathedral, the most important church in the country. Rizal park, also known as the Luneta, is an public promenade. Rizal Park features the Rizal Monument a statue of the Philippine National Hero Jose Rizal, a gigantic relief map of the Philippines, scenic Chinese gardens, and several government offices, such as the Department of Tourism. On the seaside front of Rizal Park are numerous seafood restaurants specializing in Filipino and Asian cuisine. Makati is the business centre of the Philippines with several embassies and malls as the rockwell centre and the Ayala centre. ItManila Cathedral has also the talest buildings and is the richest city in the Philippines. Pasig city named after the river next to it, the Pasig River. It is an industrial town with a booming business district in the uptown Ortigas Center. Quezon City is the largest city in Metro Manila with a population of more than 2 million people and is named after former president Manuel Luis Quezon y Molina. It was the capital until 1972. Pasay City is known for its entertainment, restaurants, coffee shops and clubs mostly along Roxas Boulevard. Here is also located SM Mall of Asia the 3rd largest shopping mall in Asia and the 4th largest shopping mall in the world and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
